Hey friends, just wanted to give you a quick update about my upcoming new album. Starting tomorrow (Monday, Feb. 27th) I will entering Sonus Clarus Studios in Adrian, MI to begin recording a brand new EP with producer extraordinaire Jake Rye (Newsboys, Shine Bright Baby). It's been 3 long years since I first released No Place Left to Hide, and its about time to get some fresh new Matt Moore music in your ears!! Right now we are looking at a release date sometime this Spring, but rest assured you fine folks on the mailing list will be the first to know when the new album is ready to roll.

And for those of you who just can't wait until Spring to get a taste of the new material, I have started a brand new blog entitled <a target="_new" href="http://mmstudio2012.tumblr.com">STUDIO UPDATE 2012 to give you all a comprehensive behind the scenes peek at life in the studio. Starting Monday I will be updating the blog daily with pictures, video clips, lyrics, audio previews and all kinds of other exclusive content about the new tunes. You can find the blog by clicking on the link provided above, or by clicking on &quot;STUDIO UPDATE 2012&quot; under the &quot;BLOGS&quot; button. Be sure to check back often over the next few weeks to keep tabs on the albums progress. Thanks so much for the support!!

So it turns out, I'm that guy.&nbsp; You know the type.&nbsp; The guy who says things like "we just hung out with Dan and Tracey a few weeks ago".&nbsp; Only to be corrected by my wife that it was more like 2 years ago.&nbsp; That guy who has such a loose grasp on time that things begin to fall through the cracks.&nbsp; For example, when I told my percussionist Josh THO that I hadn't blogged in a few months he was quick to point out that it's been almost a full year since my last electronic journal posting.&nbsp; Yeah, my bad folks!!&nbsp; So let's recap a handful of things that have happened over the past year and take a quick peak about what's to come.Things have been busier than ever round these parts.&nbsp; Since my last post we have played almost 200 more shows, landed a handful of nice endorsement deals, embarked on several national tours, and opened for some seriously awesome bands including Stellar Kart, John Rueben, Me In Motion, The Afters, Everyday Sunday, Remedy Drive, Newworldson, Hello Kelly, Manic Drive, Beckah Shae, Michelle Bonilla, Icon for Hire, Nine Lashes, Heath McNease, etc....&nbsp; Lots of different venues too ranging from your large music festivals all the way to the depths of a cave in South Dakota!!&nbsp; Still rocking out with the full band, and I love making music with these crazy guys.&nbsp; At the end of August our brother and bass player Derek Turcsanyi accepted a three month internship at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, MO.&nbsp; Even though we all miss DT like crazy we are super excited for him.&nbsp; It's clear that God is doing some pretty cool things in his life and we definitely wish him the best, please keep him in your prayers.&nbsp; In the meantime our good friend Austin Lutzke has been filling in on bass guitar.&nbsp; Austin is a seriously talented musician, and also the only guy in the group over 6 feet tall!&nbsp; Be sure to tell him how awesome he is next time you see the full band live......he's pretty easy to pick out.I could go on and on telling you all kinds of stories about our travels, creepy hotel rooms, interesting people, etc...&nbsp; So much fun stuff in the past 12 months that there is really no way I can do it all justice........and no way you are going to sit there and read my ramblings for that long!&nbsp; So let's look ahead to the future shall we?!?&nbsp; Lots of fun stuff in the works!First of all, we are currently working on material for the next album!!&nbsp; It's been over two years since I first released "No Place Left to Hide", and I figure it's about time we get some new music in your ears.&nbsp; So I have been writing and demoing out a bunch of new stuff over the past few months, and the studio has been booked for January 2012.&nbsp; Once again I will be working with producer extraordinaire Jake Rye for this project, only this time I plan to bring the full band into the studio with me to let the boys do work their magic.&nbsp; It's my goal to have a new EP finished up and in your hands by the spring of 2012.&nbsp; And the way these new songs are turning out, it's gonna rock!!Another new development, and something that I think will be a lot of fun, is a new micro blog I've recently started entitled "A Little Moore" (haha, get it?&nbsp; What I'm the only one who can't make fun of my name?!?).&nbsp; The idea of a micro blog is that its quick little pieces of media that we are going to update daily.&nbsp; No long form journal style entries like a normal blog.&nbsp; This is going to be a spot online where Josh THO and I will be posting various pictures from the road, videos, quotes, etc...&nbsp; Some new stuff, some old stuff, some seriously random stuff, anything goes.&nbsp; If you ever wanted to get a little sneak peak at what goes on behind the scenes here in Matt Moore land this is your place!!&nbsp; This is also the spot where I will be posting video clips and pictures from inside the studio while we work on the new album, so ya'll will be the first to know what's going on with that.&nbsp; Go check it out now at <a href="http://www.mattmooremusic.tumblr.com/">www.mattmooremusic.tumblr.com, or go to <a href="http://www.mattmooremusic.com/">www.mattmooremusic.com and click on "A LITTLE MOORE" under the BLOG button (its kinda hidden there since I have not officially launched it yet.....you guys get the inside track).&nbsp; There are lots of other super rad awesome good fun things in the works, but if I share them all with you now what will I blog about next year?!?&nbsp; Hmmmmmmmm.....

Blogtoberfest!!

Have you ever had that friend that you wanted to call on the phone, but you knew that if you did you would end up being on the phone a really long time? You have so much cool stuff you want to talk about with them but you're kinda busy right now, there's a lot going on, and you know that if you call now it's going to be a long conversation. So you decide to wait until later when you can give your friend the proper amount of time they deserve! And basically you just end up not calling them at all. My friends, consider this blog the call I should have placed to you a long time ago! Or just consider me an absolute failure when it comes to my communication skills. So much cool stuff has happened since my last "web log" I'm not quite sure how to include it all. Ya know, stuff like summer, and autumn!! Ok you get it; it's been a long time. But seriously, these past few months have been packed with some really cool developments. My long time percussionist Josh and I have been all over the country sharing our music and making new friends. We have even started performing with a full rock band, which is something that came about in a very interesting way. Basically I had a couple bigger shows lined up for the summer including the Big Ticket Festival in Gaylord, MI, and I thought it would be really cool to put together a full band to try to recreate the sound on the CD. So I asked my buddy Derek Turcsanyi if his new group would be interested in backing me up just for this show....no long term commitment, no strings attached. One thing I didn't know until just before the show is that the "Indie Stage" at Big Ticket Festival is basically a big battle of the bands, where one winner is selected each day to perform on one of the main stages at next year's festival. Now, if you know me at all you will know that I am not a big fan of battle of the bands. It's just not my style. I get kinda competitive about stuff and I let it rob some of the fun of playing music from me. So we decided that we didn't care about the competition, we just wanted to play for a bunch of people at a rad festival and do our thing. Besides, this was going to be the very first show this band had ever played together, so we really had no big expectations for the event. Well much to my surprise we ended up actually winning the indie stage and got invited back to perform on one of the main stages at Big Ticket Festival 2011! It's pretty awesome how God opens doors!! There was no intention of this group being a full time band, but since we figured we had something good going here, and since I'm pretty sure the guys want to play at next year's festival, we decided to book some more shows together. So it is my great pleasure to introduce to you the new members of the band. Swing over to their Facebook pages and say hi!!Derek Turcsanyi Bass and Vocals (<a href="http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=729978941">http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=729978941)Caleb Gates Lead Guitar (<a href="http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1278414652">http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1278414652)Josh Minor Drums (<a href="http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1197000752">http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1197000752)These guys are some absolutely amazing musicians, and it has been some of the most fun ever making music with them. If you get a chance to see a full band show sometime you gotta check it out!! But that's just a couple of the fun things from this past summer. Here are a few quick highlights off the top of my head to give you an idea of some of the musical adventures Josh and I have had these past few months.*Performed at and won the indie stage at Big Ticket Festival 2010.*Lead worship on a mountain top in South Dakota. (how awesome is that?!?!?)*Invented several new games after riding in the car too long on tour, most of them incredibly stupid.*Performed at Carpenter's Way Church in Lufkin, TX with my good friend Steve Glass.*Reached #1 on the Reverbnation.com "hot" charts for rock artists.*Performed at the first Christian Comedy Blast in Milwaukee, WI with our good friends Fish Sticks Comedy.*Had coffee and cookies with Dave Ramsey in Nashville, TN.*Shared the stage with some AMAZING artists!! (Paupers Field, Nevercast, At the Onset, The Legend of Xero, Nate Fueurstein, Take the City, Sound of Reign, etc...)*Went rock climbing with the Peak Experience crew in South Dakota. (some of my new favorite people)*Performed right next to the Rocky Mountains in Colorado.*Went canoeing with the Impact crew from Coleman Wesleyan Church (amazing youth group!!)*Stayed in some of the seediest hotels/motels in the entire country!! (stories.........so many stories!!)Way too much stuff to actually list in one blog, which I guess is what happens when you wait half a year to write a new one. Plus there is a lot of cool new stuff in the works (ie, new shows, new website, new street team, new songs, maybe even a new album in the works??). So I will work a lot harder to try and make this blog a more consistent thing, that way I can actually get into the details of some of these great stories. Although, technically once every six months would could still be considered consistent. Something to think about!Matt

We gotta get out of this place!!

Ok, so when I said I would be updating this baby more often I meant preferably more than once a month!! But hey, even once a month is more often than I was updating it, so I guess technically I'm still living up to my promise! February was a pretty intense month both at home and on the road. In between playing a whole bunch of shows around the state my wife and I have been working on some long overdue home improvement projects. And when we start into a project, no matter how big or small it is originally intended to be, it's gonna be a PROJECT!! Meaning that the simple repainting of one little bedroom has thrown the rest of the house into complete disarray for weeks! I can't tell you how many "weekend projects" have turned into major life events in the Moore house, but let's face it....that's not really why you take the time to read this blog. So let's talk about some music stuff!Since February was just packed full of cool gigs, eleven in the past ten days alone, I'll forgo lengthy details of each and every show and instead give you some juicy highlights. One of those super sweet shows took place at the YMCA in Traverse City, MI. Josh and I traveled North after performing an awesome afternoon gig at MMCC here in Clare. Several Northern Michigan youth groups had gathered at the "Y" for an evening of games, food and live music. We got a chance to lead worship for the group which was an incredible experience, then the teens absolutely tore the roof off the place while Josh and I rocked out. To give you an idea of who great these guys were, there was actually a "worm contest" in the middle of the set! That's right, there was a showdown to find who could dance the worm best!! This was easily one of the best crowds I have ever played for! I can promise that we are coming back to the Traverse City area again soon! Definitely a special night!A couple days, and a couple gigs later, I got the opportunity to visit my buddy Chris Freeman down at his new church in Northville, MI. By the way, you have got to check Freeman's music out!! Not only is he a sick guitar player (GS Megaphone, Poor Man's Riches, etc...), but he is an incredible sitar player as well! Anyway, Josh and I got to lead worship there at The Ward Evangelical Presbyterian Church, and what an amazing group of people they have there!! We also had the chance to perform a couple of my original songs for the congregation, and everyone was super supportive. In fact, we set up our merch table just outside the sanctuary where we played and sold every last CD that we had brought, which was literally all of them!! I completely did not expect that kind of response, but it was such a blessing getting a chance to connect with people and share my music. We're already making plans to return this spring to put on a full blown rock concert, including the one and only Mr. Freeman on electric guitar. Ya'll might wanna make the drive for that one!! I promise I'll have more CDs by then too!!There were so many other cool shows this month that it would take a mighty long blog to share all the stories with you. But I want to make sure to direct you to some of the amazing artists that I had the pleasure to jam with this month. Visit their websites, become fans, buy their stuff, etc... These are some mighty rad artists, and well worth supporting!!Chris Freeman - www.myspace.com/christopherleefreemanThe Confidence - www.myspace.com/theconfidenceI Am the Branch - www.myspace.com/iamthebranchMighty Medicine - www.myspace.com/mightymedicineArtificial Heroes - www.myspace.com/artificialheroesbaycityJessi Carrick - www.myspace.com/jessicarrickmusicFinding Clyde - www.myspace.com/findingclydeDerek Winter - www.myspace.com/derekwinterCentral Harmony - www.myspace.com/chacappellaLots of good stuff coming up for March and beyond.......stay tuned!!

So let's talk about some music stuff!

Since February was just packed full of cool gigs, eleven in the past ten days alone, I'll forgo lengthy details of each and every show and instead give you some juicy highlights. Definitely a special night!

A couple days, and a couple gigs later, I got the opportunity to visit my buddy Chris Freeman down at his new church in Northville, MI. I promise I'll have more CDs by then too!!

There were so many other cool shows this month that it would take a mighty long blog to share all the stories with you. But I want to make sure to direct you to some of the amazing artists that I had the pleasure to jam with this month. Visit their websites, become fans, buy their stuff, etc... These are some mighty rad artists, and well worth supporting!!

Chris Freeman - www.myspace.com/christopherleefreeman
The Confidence - www.myspace.com/theconfidence
I Am the Branch - www.myspace.com/iamthebranch
Mighty Medicine - www.myspace.com/mightymedicine
Artificial Heroes - www.myspace.com/artificialheroesbaycity
Jessi Carrick - www.myspace.com/jessicarrickmusic
Finding Clyde - www.myspace.com/findingclyde
Derek Winter - www.myspace.com/derekwinter
Central Harmony - www.myspace.com/chacappella

Lots of good stuff coming up for March and beyond.......stay tuned!!

I blame the government!!

Once upon a time, on a computer far far away I used to update my blog on a weekly basis. Usually I would share stories about my musical adventures, and occasionally I would just tell stupid stories about places I had been or people I had met. Then somewhere along the line I just sorta stopped. I'm not totally sure why this happened, though I think it may have been some sort of government conspiracy.........I'm working on some theories, it goes pretty deep. Well I figure that it is once again time to cast off the shackles of my oppressors and violently rise up against "The Man". I shall overcome!!! So what has been going on in my crazy world you ask?!? That is a fair question, and I will try to give you a fair answer. So last weekend my longtime percussionist and friend Josh Thompson (aka THO or Tivio) took a little road trip to the cheese filled state of Wisconsin. Now I hear you asking your computer monitor out loud "who would choose to drive to Milwaukee Wisconsin in the middle of January?!?" To which I would respond "how did YOU know I went to Milwaukee? Do you work for the government?!?" (I told you my conspiracy theory ran deep, but I digress) I was invited to be the musical guest on an improv comedy TV show called "Fishsticks.TV". The show went great, the Fishsticks crew was not only hilarious but incredibly kind (check them out at www.fishsticks.tv), and I got to meet another amazing musical guest from Sweden named Jonathan Thulin. Definitely check out this cat, he is super rad!!! (www.myspace.com/jonathanthulin) I was also introduced to "Milwaukee Style" pizza on this day, which to my understanding is flat, huge and delicious!! I learned so many new things on this trip, far too many to share in a blog that any of you would take the time to read. I will however make note of a few things I learned on this trip, you are all welcome to ask me about another time if you would like to hear the hilarious back stories.- Josh Thompson is apparently Seth Rogan's younger brother. Did not know that.- The waitresses in Milwaukee will rap for you once you have finished your meal.- Lawyers are hilarious!!- A bottle of water in your hotel room will cost you $5, or the machine right outside your hotel room door has them for $1.50.- Some people move to Wisconsin because there is so much more to do than in Alabama. In Alabama people just spontaneously start jogging because they are so bored.- A mouth guard worn by a certain percussionist I know to stop snoring can mysteriously fly across the room in the night and land on YOUR double bed. Either that or some strange things were afoot at the Best Western that night!- There is a place in Wisconsin called the Cheese Castle! I really wish I would have had more time to investigate this one further!!- Tollbooth operators in Illinois are legally allowed to screw with you if you happen to pick the unlucky booth. They will also throw your lousy Canadian quarters right back in your face.- Etc...This last Friday I had the opportunity to be the special guest on "Fuse FM's BIG Morning Show" with my friends Sara "The Intern" and JohnnyBIG. They were running a special contest this day called "The Avalanche of Goodness", which is the best name for a contest ever!! Better yet, the grand prize of this contest was...............ME!! The lucky winner gets to host a private house concert featuring yours truly. I mean, how many radio stations are actually giving away people these days?!? I also launched my brand new career as a country music singer on the show, which I figure should either make me exceedingly wealthy or kill any musical credibility that I once had. Either way, you can't beat live radio!!And finally I got to close out the weekend playing a special birthday show in Saginaw with my good friend Jayson Simonson. Basically the entire evening consisted of Josh, Jayson and myself completely slaughtering all your favorite pop hits from the 80s, 90s and now!! What better way to end a great week of musical adventures!!I'm planning to keep this baby updated on a more regular basis to keep you all informed, so be sure to stay tuned for more ridiculous tales and silly stories. And if any of you have any more information to share about that government thing I'm looking into, might wanna speak in code....they might be listening! Just walk up and say "The grey hawk flies at night!" I'll know what it means!

Gas Station Special

My friends, for this blog I would like to talk about a very dirty four letter word. The kind of word you probably wouldn't expect to hear coming from my mouth, or in this case typed by my fingers. The word is......diet!! Now normally I don't use this particular word unless I am enjoying a delicious Diet Coke, but this is not the case today. I figure there are probably many of you out there that made a New Year's resolution to get back in shape for 2009, and usually there is some sort of eating plan involved. However, since it is now February I figure most, if not all of you, have already fallen off the wagon. And I don't just mean you casually fell off the wagon, but more like you did a monster cannonball off the wagon and into a huge pile of Krispy Kremes! Hey, we've all been there at least once in our lives.Diet's suck!! And they are impossible to stick too. Weight Watcher's has you do more counting than actually eating. Nutri-System will let you eat lots of things, as long as it's no bigger than a grain of rice. On Slim Fast you can drink nasty milk shake like drinks until you're so nauseous you don't want to eat anything else. South Beach and Atkins diets encourage you to eat an entire cow if you want, but God forbid you should touch a piece of fruit!! You get the picture, all these diets are ridiculous! So with that in mind I decided to start my own ridiculous diet. I mean, why should I be the only one not cashing in on America's obesity epidemic?? So today I introduce to you the Matt Moore Gas Station Special Diet!!The key to the "Gas Station Special Diet" is to limit yourself to a few special items that can be found in nearly any gas station. That way you are never more than a few blocks away from your target foods. Plus, this diet can be customized to anyone's personal tastes! Feel free to pick your own three items, just make sure you stick to the plan religiously. My personal diet consists of Rockstar energy drinks (just think of all the calories I'm burning when I can't stop shaking), gas station popcorn (just to fill some space in the ol' tummy) and Payday candy bars (because we all know peanut's are good for you). The way I figure it, I will be a whole new man after just a few weeks on this diet. Go ahead and try your own combination of gas station delights! And be sure to share your life changing weight loss stories with all your overweight friends! You can all thank me later.

New Album Info!!

What's up my people?!? I have some great news for ya!! Earlier today I wrapped up recording for my brand new album entitled "No Place Left to Hide"!! The new material is sounding really great and I can't wait for you all to hear it. In fact, I'm so anxious to share some of it with you that I have posted a little sample of a new song called "Change In Me" on my profile. It's just a little one minute teaser, since it hasn't gone through all the finishing touches yet, but it should give you a pretty good idea of what I have been up to these past few months. Drop me a line and let me know what you think!!

Best of 2008!!

So 2009 is upon us now, and 2008 is nothing more than a fading memory in the rearview mirror. A lot of people I know couldn't be happier to say goodbye to 2008 for good. Well those people are whiners!! Come on!! 2008 was pretty rad too if you were out there grabbing life by the throat and shaking it for all it was worth. So today I have decided to compile a list of ten of my favorite shows/events I was blessed to be a part of this past year. These are listed out chronologically (that means by date) rather than in order of importance, so enjoy!!January 18th The Ward Theater (Mt. Pleasant, MI)This was the very first time I had ever played my material with a full band. It was also the first show that I had my demo CD available for sale. It was just a straight up awesome night of coffee and tunes. You can check out video clips from this show on my page.March 22nd The Olde Jamestowne Hall (Saginaw, MI)What a wild show this was!! I was sandwiched between two extremely heavy bands (Desiring Dead Flesh and the Grave Robbers). I was kind of expecting everything to be a complete disaster, especially when I found myself standing in a sticky pool of pineapple juice thanks to the antics of one of the earlier acts. Despite all that I went up there and gave em everything I had and they gave it right back to me. The kids at this show were amazing!!! Definitely one of the coolest memories I have of 2008.June 13-16 Summer Mini Tour (South Dakota)On tour with the fabulous John Denley Band, what a riot. Eight people, tons of gear, two relatively small rental cars, what could possibly go wrong? Feel free to read all about our antics in my earlier blogs titled "The South Dakota Diaries". The best part of the trip for me was hanging with the folks in the JDB, especially the long drives with my buddy Josh Thompson (wood!!). There are so many great stories from this trip and I'm sure I will always remember it.June 26th JTV (Jackson, MI)I got to play my songs on live TV!! How rad is that?!?!July 18th Main Street Live (Mt. Pleasant, MI)Another full band show, this time a little more rehearsed than the first one. The band sounded really great, I got to hang out in the park with my family and friends, what's not to love? Huge thanks to Tim, Adam, Vanessa, BJ and Josh...you guys are amazing!!July 26th Thrivent Rocks the Park (Midland, MI)This was one of those days you wish you could just relive over and over! The weather was perfect, the sound system was huge, the people were terrific, and I got to open for Caedmon's Call!! From the moment I arrived at the show I was treated like a rockstar, which is something a dude could get used to. There were tons of people in the park that day, over 8,000 by final count. It was just an awesome day. Best of all was that a lot of my friends and family were there to share it with me, including a lot of friends that had never had a chance to hear me play before. What a great day!!August 22nd Fuse FM (Coleman, MI)On this day I got to co-host the "Get Up and Go Show" on Fuse FM with my friend Sara Thompson. We had a total blast laughing and playing silly songs on the air. I believe this is where the idea for the "Skittle Sandwich" podcast that Sara and I do with our friend Aaron first came about (www.skittlesandwich.com). And on top of all that, I even got to play a few of my original songs live on the air with my bro Josh playing percussion for me. The only thing that wasn't a lot of fun was waking up at 4AM. Yikes!August 29th 211 Club (Saginaw, MI)There weren't a ton of people at this show, but the other acts on the bill were incredible. From the incredible Ben Nolan to John Vasquez and the Behringer Boys and others, the quality of music was outstanding and I was blessed to be a part of it. Not even totally sure what it was about this show, but it was just one of those nights where you drive home feeling really good about what you're doing.September 12th Northwood University (Midland, MI)We had a couple of weather scares early in the evening, but in the end it turned out to be a beautiful evening on the campus of NU. This was one of those nights on stage where you just feel like everything is going your way. I can remember looking over at Josh during the show, who was playing djembe for me, and saying "ya know, this pretty much beats doing anything doesn't it?!" It feels really good in those moments when you know you're right where you belong.November 14th The State Theater (Bay City, MI)What a cool venue!! And what an awesome crowd!!!! For this event I got the chance to open for the band Newworldson as part of the Hope Rising Tour. I had been in the studio all the previous week and it really felt great to get out there and light it up live again. I have heard that this show was recorded and played on some local public access channels in the Midland area. I'm working to get my hands on a copy of it so I can post some clips up here for ya'll to check out.As I look back on 2008 I realize that these are only a handful of great memories from the year! I could also talk about some of the shows at Mid Michigan Community College, Live 08, the Higher Rock Café, Frenz Coffee House, The Harvest, Tunes by the Tridge, Sonic Skate, Journey's, Live Wired, the Midland Mall, the Interfaith homeless shelter, etc... Or maybe just a few of the other great artists that I haven't mentioned yet including my bro Jayson Simonson, Brett Mitchell, Josh Keene, Michael Hernandez, Tylor Reed, Frokus, Crimson Tide, Lenae Hale, Tim Pepper, Derek Turcsanyi, the list goes on and on. I played over 150 shows this last year, moved over 1500 copies of my demo album, started work on my new album, met tons of amazing people, so many cool moments it's impossible to list them all. I am truly living the dream, and I thank God every day for the opportunities that he has given me to get out there. I am truly blessed to be able to do what I love to do, and to share it with you guys. Can't wait to see what 2009 has in store. Buckle up!!

Winter Update!!!

Winter is upon us my friends!! Here in Michigan that means another season of sliding around the roads, scraping off car windows, and trying to find new and creative ways to plow my own driveway using just the vehicle I'm in (shovels are for suckers!!). It also means that at some point here I should start thinking about the idea of Christmas shopping. It has almost become a holiday tradition now to procrastinate on this as long as possible, only to scramble around like a maniac during the last few days leading up to the 25th. In fact, it is not uncommon to find me in the mall on Christmas Eve day picking up some last minute items for friends and family. It's not even that I don't have any ideas about what I want to get people..................ok, sometimes it is. So how about an update from the Wild and Crazy World of Matt Moore huh?As many of you know I have been locked away in the studio for the past few weeks working on the new album. I'm happy to say that things are going really well so far. We have a couple of tracks pretty much done and they sound absolutely HUGE!! At this point it's definitely going to be a full on rock album, a little different form the gentle acoustic style of the last demo (you're gonna freak when you hear Tear Me Down!!). I've been very blessed to have some incredible musicians play on the album including Mr. Scott Gentry on the drums, and my producer Jake Rye on bass and some extra electric guitar. You can expect a few more guest musicians on the album before everything is done and ready to roll. Again, I'm expecting to be able to release the new goods sometime in early 2009. Stay tuned for more info on that!!I did get paroled from the studio once or twice to go and rock out with some friends around the state, and one show in particular really stands out. On Friday, Nov 14th I got to rock over at the State Theater in Bay City with my new friends Newworldson. These guys are an amazing band and they put on a killer show. Look them up and check them out, they are definitely worth your time! The crowd in BC was showing a lot of love on this night and I sold out of all my remaining demo cds! That now brings my total to over 1200 with another few hundred downloads. Thanks so much to any of you who were there! You make a local boy feel awfully good! Let's do it again real soon!!!!And finally. I wanted to let you guys know about another development that I'm pretty excited about. For the past little while my wife and I have been sponsoring a child through the organization World Vision and it has been a really neat experience for us. Recently I have been feeling called to dig a little deeper into this area of ministry and see if there was more that I could be doing to help provide for children and families struggling with poverty all over the world. After an extensive application process I am pleased to announce that I am now officially representing World Vision as one of their "Artist Associates." What does this mean? Basically I will still be doing the same thing I always have, touring all over the state playing shows, but now I will also be talking a bit more about WV and what they do, giving others the opportunity to get involved with sponsoring a child. I'll have information about the kids as well as WV as a whole back on my merch table for people to check out. I'm very excited to see what God has planned for this new aspect of my music ministry. I will of course keep you all posted on that too!!

What in the World is a Skittle Sandwich?!?!

Originally posted on November 11th, 2008.So what in the world is a Skittle Sandwich you ask?!? Well, it's definitely not the latest sub from Subway, it's waaay better. It's actually a brand new podcast featuring myself and a couple of pals, and it's sweeping the internet!! Recently I teamed up with my radio DJ friends Aaron "Dice" Dicer and Sara "The Intern" Williams from Fuse FM to produce a bi-weekly podcast the contains the finest mindless ramblings you will hear anywhere on the world wide web. During each episode we talk about our personal lives, pop culture, music and who knows what else might come up. If you ever wanted a way to get to know me a bit better, or maybe just looking for some good clean entertainment on your PC you should check it out!! You can either go to www.SkittleSandwich.com to listen to an episode and check out our show notes, or you can simply search for Skittle Sandwich on iTunes and you'll find us. What are you waiting for?!? Subscribe to it now!! It's FREE for crying out loud!! And if you would be so kind as to leave a review for it too I will personally come to your house and share a bag of Skittles with you! You have my word.So what else is going on with me you ask? That's a fair question and I will try to give you a fair answer. Actually I'm heading into the studio tomorrow to begin work on my new album. I will be working with producer extraordinaire Jake Rye at Sonus Clarus Productions. I'm really excited to head into a legit studio and lay some tracks down. In case you weren't aware before, the original demo that I've had for the past year now was all recorded and produced by myself in my bedroom. Sorry to blow the rockstar illusion for you. You can be sure that when I have some new music to share it will be posted right here first! I'm also planning a huge CD release party for early 2009, so be sure to keep an eye open for that! In fact, it's probably best to not plan anything at all for the first half of 2009 until I set a release date. That way you will be sure to not miss it!!On another note, some of you may have noticed that I have been asking a random question each weekday. This has been my little way of sparking some interaction and getting to know some of you a bit better. I have been blown away by the response I have gotten from this! Each day I get dozens of comments on my page, as well as a load of new messages. I always try to respond to each comment and message, but sometimes I get behind with playing shows and such and miss a few of you. If you didn't get a response from me on a recent question I'm very sorry, and I will certainly try to keep in touch with each and every one of you who are kind enough to play along with my little game. That being said, I'm not sure how much free time I will have over the next couple of weeks to post new questions. It will all depend on what kind of schedule I have when I'm in the studio. So if you don't hear much from me in the next couple of weeks just know that I'm locked away working on brand spanking new material to share with all ya'll!!And finally, if you live in the Tri-cities area of Michigan (Midland, Saginaw, Bay City) this next weekend is gonna be rad!!!! On Friday I will be playing the State Theater in Bay City, opening for an amazing band called Newworldson (Inpop/EMI Records). On Saturday I will be rocking the fabulous city of Sebawaing with my pals at the Live Wired Coffeehouse. And on Sunday I will be performing at the Salvation Army on Waldo in Midland (not the store but the headquarters). So be sure to get yourself out to a show this weekend and I'll ask you random questions personally!! See ya!

Death of a Cynic.

Originally posted on October 30th, 2008.This last Tuesday I was driving through downtown Grand Rapids when I noticed a grungy old dude standing by the side of the road. I was stopped at a traffic light so I had a few moments to look this guy over and observe his situation. He looked cold and dirty, his eyes staring at the ground in front of him. He had a grocery bag sitting to his side with what looked like a few pieces of dirty laundry in it. He was holding a small cardboard sign that said "homeless hungry vet". People seemed to be walking by him as though he wasn't even there, barely swerving enough to keep from running him over. It was definitely an uncomfortable scene! Then the light turned green and everything was back to normal again. Well almost. As I headed a bit further down Fulton Street I began to reflect on what I just witnessed when a pattern of familiar thoughts crossed my mind. "It's probably some sort of scam. Dude is probably just hanging out with his sign so people will give him money to buy booze with. I mean, even if he is really homeless it's probably his own fault. Seriously, I know the economy is tough and all but get a job!" He was just like all the other supposed homeless guys that I have driven by in the past.I was ready to brush off the entire event when something hit me. I can't quite explain what happened, I personally believe it was the Holy Spirit smacking me in the face, but all of the sudden I was incredibly ashamed of my behavior. Have I really become this cynical? What if this guy was legit? What if he was really homeless? What if he was really hungry? And maybe most importantly, why do I feel like it's my job to determine if someone is really in need or not? I don't think God is asking me to choose who needs my help and who doesn't. God's calling me to love on people no matter what and take care of those who are less fortunate than me. I immediately turned the car around.Of course I didn't have a single dollar on me, but that's pretty typical. What I did have was half of a 12" tuna sub from Subway, I was planning to eat it later. I circled the block and found an open parking spot just a block away from this guy. Now, in downtown GR you either need to park at a meter or in a pay parking structure. And for some reason the folks who police those meters are tenacious about it. I was just sure that if I left my car at an expired meter, even for a few minutes, I would get nailed with a ticket. So I scrounged around the car, looking for any kind of change I could use to buy myself some time. I finally found a single nickel in the cushions of the driver's seat, just enough to purchase 3 minutes of time. I jumped out of the car with my sandwich in hand, threw my precious nickel in the meter and headed down the street.Sure enough, dude was standing right where I left him, holding the same sign, staring at the same spot on the pavement. I walked up to him and explained that I had passed by a few minutes ago, I honestly didn't have any cash on me, but that he was welcome to have my sandwich if he wanted it. He looked up and with tears in his eyes said "that would be great." I shook his hand, thanked him for his service to our country, and told him I would pray for him. Then I returned to my vehicle just as the time on my meter ran out. As I took back off down the street I noticed the same guy, now sitting on the curb with his sign on the ground, eating the sandwich I had given him.I hope you all know that I'm certainly not telling this story to show how great of a guy I am or anything like that. If anything I am still quite embarrassed about my terrible attitude, and how calloused I have become. How could I have developed a complete apathy for the people around me? Sure there are scam artists out there that are just looking to make a quick buck, but there are also real needy people out there too. Was this particular guy legit? I guess I don't know, and it doesn't even matter. If I was scammed then I'm out a sandwich and a nickel. Who cares?! This is how I am called to live my life. To look after the orphans and widows of the world. To take care of those who are less fortunate than myself. To love on people, no matter what the circumstances and no matter what other people might think of me. It's my calling as a Christian, and as a fellow human being. I hope and pray that next time I notice another person in need I can put aside all my crap and show some compassion. I'm heading back to GR tomorrow and I plan to keep an eye open for this guy, and I'm packing an extra sandwich.

I enjoy challenging myself to be a better person, reaching for all new heights. This week I have accomplished two very special things that I believe have made me a more experienced human being. Two things that may very well set the tone for my future maturity as a man.

The first of these events happened on Sunday. The rest of the family was feeling kinda sick, so we spent most of the day resting and taking care of the kids over the weekend. This means that mom and dad have to fend for themselves when it comes to meals and things of this nature. Now, there are only a few types of food that a man can have for all three meals of the day. There is pizza, which is an amazing food if you think about it. There is also cake, which many people besides myself and Jim Gaffigan seem to dismiss as a one dimensional choice. But believe me, it works all day long. However on this day I chose another food option, one that might be considered one of the greatest food groups of all time. I am talking of course about cereal! Cereal is one of the few foods that can be consumed for all three means and still completely satisfy a man's hunger. It can also be consumed as a snack between meals. So I started the day with some Frosted Mini-Wheats, moved to some Honey Bunches of Oats for lunch, snacked on some Cheerios with the kiddies, and ended the day with a nice bowl of Frosted Flakes. I'm very proud that I was able to stick to my guns all day long, and I would like to think that I'm a better man for it.

Speaking of sticking to my guns, the next big accomplishment happened yesterday. I made a quick stop by the gas station early in the morning to purchase some coffee, and also some minty gum to destroy the inevitable coffee breath that was sure to follow. Now, when I chew gum (Trident in this case) I usually pop a couple of pieces in my mouth at one time. I guess I just prefer a more substantial chunk of rubbery goodness at one time. Normally I chew it until it loses its flavor, then I spit it out and start over fresh. Well yesterday I decided not to spit out the gum when it lost flavor, but simply add a new piece to what I was already chewing. Knowing how quickly Trident loses its flavor you can probably see where this is going. It became a personal challenge to myself to chew an entire pack's worth of gum all at the same time. By the end of the day I was laboring over a monstrous mass of gum, one that has left my jaw quite fatigued today. Although I'm sure it looked quite disgusting to anyone observing, I again feel as though it was a special personal moment that I won't soon forget. And you should have seen the size of the bubbles!!!

So other than all that nonsense, some of you may have noticed that I'm now posting bulletins everyday with a random question. This is mostly just to add some interaction to the page and for me to get to know you guys a little better. It's been a lot of fun hearing some of you talk about everything from pizza toppings to super powers. I plan to keep asking these questions every weekday, just to stir some conversation. If you have any suggestions for questions you would like to see asked be sure to drop me a line.

<![endif]-->
Those of you who know me well probably know that I always working to accomplish new things.

Cereal is one of the few foods that can be consumed for all three means and still completely satisfy a man?s hunger. It can also be consumed as a snack between meals. So I started the day with some Frosted Mini-Wheats, moved to some Honey Bunches of Oats for lunch, snacked on some Cheerios with the kiddies, and ended the day with a nice bowl of Frosted Flakes. I?m very proud that I was able to stick to my guns all day long, and I would like to think that I?m a better man for it.

It became a personal challenge to myself to chew an entire pack?s worth of gum all at the same time. By the end of the day I was laboring over a monstrous mass of gum, one that has left my jaw quite fatigued today. Although I?m sure it looked quite disgusting to anyone observing, I again feel as though it was a special personal moment that I won?t soon forget. And you should have seen the size of the bubbles!!!

So other than all that nonsense, some of you may have noticed that I?m now posting bulletins everyday with a random question. This is mostly just to add some interaction to the page and for me to get to know you guys a little better. It?s been a lot of fun hearing some of you talk about everything from pizza toppings to super powers. I plan to keep asking these questions every weekday, just to stir some conversation. If you have any suggestions for questions you would like to see asked be sure to drop me a line.

Well my friends, last night I hit a bit of a milestone in my musical ventures. While playing to a bunch of rowdy youth at a lock-in in Bay City I sold my 1,000th demo CD!! That means there are at least a thousand physical Matt Moore discs floating around somewhere in addition to the hundreds of downloaded copies. So to celebrate this achievement I thought I would do something a little special for all of you. From now until the time I have some tracks from the new album to share with you guys I am making all of the songs on my MySpace profile available as free downloads. Just my way of saying thanks so much for showing me some love.So cruise on over to www.MattMooreMusic.com and get your free downloads today before they are no longer available. And tell your friends to swing on by and grab em too. You don't even need to have a MySpace account to download these songs so go to town!

Hope was crushed beneath an avalanche of endless commentary and thoughtless personal opinion about anything and everything. It was indeed a dark period in the history of the internet. Then one day there emerged a voice that rose above the clatter. A voice that spoke for the people and to the people. A voice that put the world into perspective and spoke comfort to the souls of all that heard it. This very blog is that voice transcribed for a new generation of readers who have grown loathe of the mindless ramblings that have permeated the internet for so long.

My friends, I implore you now to rise up as one and together we shall overcome the blogging constraints that have held our hearts and minds captive all these years. I'm speaking of a revolution in the "blogosphere", one that shall forever change the way we perceive the written word. It is together that we shall persevere. Together that we shall overcome. I say unto you now, this blog that you are reading right now shall be the catalyst that changes the world!!

Or maybe I'll just use it to tell ridiculous stories about my musical adventures, I haven't decided just yet.

sterility of a treeless, corporate office park.
I?m speaking of a revolution in the ?blogosphere?, one that shall forever change the way we perceive the written word. It is together that we shall persevere. Together that we shall overcome. I say unto you now, this blog that you are reading right now shall be the catalyst that changes the world!!
